The female will kick the male squirrel out of her drey when she is pregnant. Squirrels mate in May and December and the female is pregnant for about 6 weeks before she gives birth to an average of 3 young.
The young are born without fur, blind and deaf. They rely on their mother's milk for 7 weeks.
