Bird's, squirrel's, or bat's are eating my pears and figs. What can I do to keep these pests out of my trees?

Go ahead and invest about 20 bucks for a net sold made for keeping varmits %26amp; birds in most home %26amp; garden stores. It's a little trouble to put up and take down but is one of the best deterants.Bird's, squirrel's, or bat's are eating my pears and figs. What can I do to keep these pests out of my trees?
Netting (Fish netting) over the whole tree or over the main fruit bearing area.
Fruit bats ? where do you live south america..
