! thank you verry much for your time.A squirrel fell out of our tree in our backyard!?
I have raised baby squirrels, but they didn't have broken legs.

You should take it to a vet to get its legs checked. Be sure to keep it warm, place it on a heating pad on low, and cover with a towel or baby blanket. You can feed it with an eye dropper and some kitten formula. Make sure you get kitten formula, regular milk will give it diarhea. If it is real young , you will need to feed it about every 3 hours, as it gets older you can add baby cereal to the formula, and start offering it fruit and nuts. I don't believe it is three years old, the mother doesn't take care of them after they are grown.A squirrel fell out of our tree in our backyard!?
I haven't read all the other replies, but if you have actually caught the squirrell, I hope it has been taken it to a vet by now. If you've caught it and it hasn't been taken to a vet, I'd suggest you do that immediately. Any animal with broken limbs needs veterinary treatment, obviously.

If you haven't caught it and it's still there, it will be suffering. You could call your local animal control service and get them to catch it.

No matter who catches it, it will need veterinary treatment and will then need to be given to a wildlife carer who can care for it until it gets better.

Good luck.
This exact thing happened to me! If it isnt rainy and dark, try this: Make a nest using a basket, with branches and leaves in it. Take the basket out to where the squirell fell. Place it on the tree. Next, hold the squirell upside down by its tail or something. (Dont worry, it wont hurt them!) The squirell will begin to squeal. After about 3-5 seconds, set the squirell in the basket and leave the area. Other squirells should come to him. But, it they dont, call a nearby wildlife rescuer immediatly! Not only is it illegal to hold wildlife for over 72 hours, but the squirell could die. When we brought our squirell to a wildlife rescuer, she said they have a lot of other squirells and that all wildlife rescuers protect the animals. The squirell will be in good care.
i think you will probably need to rear the baby squirrel on cat milk replacer, i would imagine you need to feed it about 4 times a day by dripping it into the mouth very slowly with a small syringe ( if you do it too fast and it can't swallow quick enough it will inhale it and get pneumonia). it will let you know how much it wants, probably 2-4ml each feed. If it's back legs really are broken the outlook is pretty poor as they are unlikely to heal properly; it would be best to take it to a vet or welfare centre for them to check it over. Good luck!
be EXTREMELY careful with squirrels. especially around little kids and pets. they can become very defensive and violent. they attacked a dog near us once because she was in their space. but i think what you're trying to do is great. call up a vet and ask because they will probably know the best things for your case. and try to be very careful not to seperate it from its mother. if you keep it away and the mother moves, and then you release it, the squirrel might not know what to do...
You can keep it for a while, and feed it nuts and berries. Take it to a vet before releasing it into the wild though. My friend went through the same thing. Squirrels are squirrels, and you can release them into the wild without fearing how they'd react. Some animals, like tigers have to adjust to the wild, but squirrels know exactly what to do after they've been domesticated.
I took care of baby ones.. I believe you mean 3 months old?? anyways the ones I took care of were three tiny babys who the mother took back we just gave them some milk (the vet told us what kind to give) and made sure to make them a nest so that at night they would be nice and warm.. the mother came back to them and brought them to a new nest.. they were found in the siding at my grandparents while doing an addition.. the other one was older and could fend for its self after a few days.. we just fed him a little almost everyday and eventually weened him from depending on us.. Call the vet.. if he has broken legs then there is a chance that they will set wrong and disable him frorever. he needs xrays and will maybe never be able to be wild again.. a wildlife pace will take him
A 3 yr old squirrel would not still be in a nest, and its legs would be fully grown.

The best thing to do is put it back in the nest, if you can. Otherwise, call your DNR. It is illegal to have any wild animal, for ANY reason, in most states.
