What must be done to keep squirrels and tree roots from distroying our septic tank %26amp; leechfield ?

We live at 6000 feet above sea level. We don't want to kill either of them, just deter them... ?What must be done to keep squirrels and tree roots from distroying our septic tank %26amp; leechfield ?
Really never heard of squiiels in the drainage system but roots can be a problem...If you have the old clay style drainage pipes you will need to have Roto-Rutter or a company like that grind out the roots and stat using a product like Rid-X which helps prevent this...If squirrels are getting in your pipes then there is a bigger issue of open pipe in your line and this has to be replaced...Roto-Rutter can help in tha too, but get a bid from atleast 3 companies, the price can vary a lot
