What to do about pesky squirrels killing our tree?

Hey!

We have a big maple tree in my backyard that the squirrels have been destroying. They chew the bark (to sharpen teeth) to such a degree that large branches are dying off. We only started having this problem within the last year or so. Squirrels have lived all around us for a lot longer than that. We already have traps out to catch them and release them elsewhere, but the tree is still losing large branches! Are there other non-toxic remedies (by the way, we cant kill them!)?What to do about pesky squirrels killing our tree?
put a metal band around the lower part of the tree. make it big enough so that they cannot jump from the bottom to the top and still be able to climb the tree. What to do about pesky squirrels killing our tree?
trap them and take them to another municipality, then kill them. They invaded my attic, I had to shoot 2, now if population gets to many, I trap them and drown them, by the way, they are in the same family as rats.
1. Let loose a large grizzly bear (you wouldn't kill them, but mother nature might).

2. Populate the maple with bees. Preferably angry stinging bees.

3. Set up scratching posts that the squirrels can chew upon, make sure that they are of fine mahogany and teak. Squirrels will instinctively destroy the most expensive wood.

4. Plant more trees, and wait 20 years for the squirrels to move on to those.

5. Shoot them with paintball guns. It won't kill them, but it'll get the point across. Make sure someone plays the banjo in the background.
call a landscaping company and ask them what to do. they can advise you better.
