What is the best way to bathe a gray tree squirrel?

I am not sure there is one. Bathing in the sense of getting in a tub of water with some soap is fine for people but not a natural act for any other animal. Indeed for many animals it would be bad because they might try to lick soap off their coats and get sick from it.

I presume this is a pet that is well behaved. If you are trying to get oil or other such things off them you should consult a vet first. There are products made for cleaning these things off animals. If you want to remove some stuck on poop from his bumb then I suggest you us only a warm wet facecloth and get what you can. Otherwise cleaning its coat is not necessary. They will clean themselves as they need it. It is hard to recommend any kind of cleaner that will not get into their fur and stay there.

On a side note, we found ours liked peanut butter and Coke as a treat so many years ago. He would sneaze as he drank the Coke, but would keep going back for more (hehe).

Good luckWhat is the best way to bathe a gray tree squirrel?
That depends on why you are bathing the squirrel. If it is just to clean him and you are good buddies, then try to hold him beside a warmish stream of water as it comes out of the tap, get him wet, rub him (it will feel good) and then rush him to a towel and rub him down to dry him and remove any dirt that way. They pretty much clean themselves, as rodents do. Keep him warm and free of drafts until he is dry.

When my squirrel was a baby ( I found him) I fed him two different kinds of pablum every 3 hours, alternating. One was various grains and veggies and the other was various grains and fruits. This stuff would dry like concrete so I had to wash him down. He put up with this to get his food but I felt sorry for him. He was such a messy eater even though I hand fed him. (eye dropper at first) He didn't take long to dry and I used clean fluffy towels to dry him.

You can also take a wet warm washcloth and just rub it over him. Don't get too fussy.
